How beautiful is it that we have been blessed to have Ramadan, to be able to feast with our families and friends, and to be able to build connections and bonds. 

Ramadan is the time when Allah SWT has opened up the doors to Jannah, and He calls upon us, He accepts our good deeds, and He answers our Duaa's. We ask Allah SWT to make this a blessed month for all of us, and to accept it from us, Ameen. 

My name is Zuleikha,, and I am honoured to be able to work with Human Concern International this Ramadan on their Village of Hope Project. This is one of HCI’s biggest sustainable projects yet. A place for displaced Syrians to finally have a community and feel at home.  

The Prophet (ﷺ) said: "A believer to another believer is like a building whose different parts support each other.” 

Build Homes for Displaced Syrian Families

Al-salamu ‘alaykum wa rahmatullahi ta’ala wa barakatuh. HCI needs your help to improve the lives of thousands of internally displaced Syrians.

Human Concern International is excited to announce that we will travel to Syria in December to visit and deliver aid to the camps.

Displaced Syrian families live in heart-breaking conditions in tents, which lack heating in the winter, cooling in the hot summers, and privacy. The stories of death and humiliation in these tents bring tears to the eye.

We believe we can do better to help bring these families stability, privacy, security, and an opportunity to overcome the cycle of pain by building a village for them.

Village of Hope Project

Can you imagine being away from home, from your bed, and all your belongings for ten years?

Ten years after the conflict began in Syria, 6 million Syrians are displaced – forever removed from their homes.

HCI has been on the ground since the beginning of this crisis by offering help on various levels to bring stability back to the community. 

This year, in addition to offering skills training programs, food baskets, water projects, orphan care, and health services, Human Concern International will assist in building an entire village. 

The village will provide displaced Syrian families a renewed sense of stability, dignity, and a new place to call home.

The village offers families their own houses, a mosque, a school for their children, and more.

Project Specifications

The village will have 500 homes for 500 families. A home is made up of two rooms, a kitchen, a washroom and a living room.

The village will be built in northern Syria but will be constructed principally in northwest Syria.

It’s a residential project with infrastructure and essential services like water, electricity, a mosque, a school for children, a hospital, businesses and green spaces to grow fruits and vegetables.

Children can finally catch up on missed classes and play peacefully in the school courtyard. Families will have access to medical professionals and essential healthcare services.

Technical Data and Project Outline: Village Planning

Homes

The construction cost of a single home is $1500, which includes part of the infrastructure. Help build a school and Mosque as well for $2500. 

The School

The school can welcome 480 students in a 720 square meters large space. The space includes 8 classrooms, 6 washrooms (3 for boys and 3 for girls), administrative rooms, a solar energy system to provide energy, and all the required school furniture and equipment.

The Mosque

A masjid has been built in the centre of the community for social gatherings, Jumu'ahIt's, five daily prayers, Taraweeh, and more. The Masjid is central to the village and will tie the community together.
