ABOUT RIZQ

Rizq is a people-powered social exchange that aims to sustain human life to fulfill its true potential.

Access to a stable, affordable, and nutritious supply of food in a respectable manner is the first challenge to a human’s honor and dignity, and the lack of food the first hurdle in a human's quest to reach their potential. One doesn’t have the luxury to progress if one’s stomach is empty.

It is in this vein, that we are working to combat food insecurity, food wastage, and hunger at large to protect, by working to build resilient food ecosystems and advance the right to good food for all.

OUR WORK

Our work is divided into the following domains, each with its own set of programs.

I. Food & Nutrition

1. Rizq Mega Kitchen
   Rizq Mega Kitchens are state of the art,  community-based, social-enterprise mega kitchens that work to promote the accessibility of healthy and nutritious food by supplying food for a range of our programs and services. Rizq Mega Kitchens pride themselves in best and most nutritious food and the most economical rates for welfare of the society
    
2. Rizq Khana
   Rizq Khana is a unique social business project aimed at tackling food insecurity and unemployment by providing affordable and healthy food options to the masses. We select micro entrepreneurs and empower them with a franchise of our food carts, giving them access to healthy food from our kitchens at Rizq Hub. By offering affordable prices and creating a community of micro-entrepreneurs, we not only provide access to healthy food but also create employment opportunities and help uplift communities.
    
3. Rizq Daig
   Through the Rizq Daig, we channelize the rich religiously and socially motivated culture of food philanthropy with in Pakistan through the distributing a daigs, a local term for a huge cauldron of food. These daigs are traditionally distributed at shrines, places of worship, hospitals and public places to provide food to the deserving.
    
4. Rizq Dastarkhawan
   Rizq Dastarkhawan, a program that provides free meals to those in need. We set up communal tables and places for food, creating a sense of community while nourishing those who are struggling to put food on their plates. Our mission is to ensure that everyone has access to nutritious meals, regardless of their circumstances.
    
5. Rizq Ration
   Rizq Ration is an impactful food assistance program that acts as a vital safety net, guaranteeing an ample food supply and safeguarding the most vulnerable households from the grip of food insecurity. Through subsidized provisions, we strive to ensure adequate and affordable access to nutritious meals, addressing the pressing needs of those in underserved communities.
    
6. Rizq Bachao
   Rizq Bachao is a pioneering initiative that actively combats the grave issue of food waste. By advocating and taking decisive action, we intercept and salvage edible food that would have otherwise been discarded across the entire food supply chain, from farm to fork. Through our extensive network of food banks and non-profit partners, this rescued food is thoughtfully redistributed to individuals and families facing food insecurity.

About Rizq

Started in 2015, by three LUMS alumnus, in continuation of their mothers 30+ year legacy of running soup kitchens, RIZQ WAS BORN TO PROVIDE FOOD IN TIMES OF CRISIS!

For this, we mobilize, connect and enable various stakeholders in the food ecosystem, including individuals, corporate, foundations, media, government, youth, grassroots organization and networks to fight the root causes of hunger, to promote food justice and create self-sustaining neighborhoods, communities, and life on earth.
