Community Waterwell Update

On August 6, 2025, we successfully commissioned the community water well in Buwongo village, Bugweri district, in the presence of distinguished guests, including the Honorable Member of Parliament, local authorities, government representatives, and over 830 community members.

Humanity Increased is addressing the longstanding water scarcity challenges in Buwongo, which had resulted in reliance on contaminated water sources, increased waterborne diseases, and vulnerability to attacks, particularly for women and girls.

The state-of-the-art facility features:

- 85-meter deep well
- 2.2 kW, 4.2 cubic meters per hour, multi-stage water pump
- 6 x 620-watt bifacial solar panels
- 10,000-liter tank
- 6-meter tank stand
- Strategically located tap stands (near the water source, mosque, and Homeland Primary School)

The facility currently serves 3,800 people, with potential for expansion to reach more communities. The Village Water Committee has been trained and inaugurated, ensuring the facility's long-term sustainability.

Humanity Increased, has broken ground on the Mega Solar-Powered Water Well in Bugweri District, Eastern Uganda. The land has been cleared. Surveying is complete. Materials are arriving. The first borehole drilling will begin shortly, insha’Allah.

A 90-meter deep borehole, reaching clean groundwater

A 10,000-liter solar-powered storage tank, elevated for year-round pressure

A 7-stance community tap station, safely accessible to over 1,200 villagers

Fencing and solar energy infrastructure to protect the site

Hygiene training and a local water committee, ensuring long-term impact

We selected this village because the need was undeniable:
