🕌 A Mushola Built from Scratch… Then Burned to the Ground

In a remote coastal village in East Kalimantan, Indonesia, Ustad Jauhari did something remarkable. With no mosque nearby, he took it upon himself to build a small mushola (prayer house) using his own savings. It wasn’t just a place for prayer — it became a center of community, where children learned to read the Qur’an and gather for religious education.

But in 2024, tragedy struck. A fire destroyed the humble structure, leaving the community without a place to pray, learn, or gather.

For many families living in this underserved fishing village, the Mushola Al-Ma’ruf was more than just a building. It was:

Ustad Jauhari, despite limited resources, continues to guide and teach children under makeshift tarps and open skies — refusing to give up on his community.
