Emergency Response

SAPA is supporting displaced families in Sudan by delivering daily meals and critical healthcare to those most at risk.

Our response focuses on:

• Delivering daily warm meals through community kitchens for families with no reliable food access

• Reaching families in areas where health facilities are no longer functional
   

Food Insecurity and Malnutrition

Nearly 25 million people in Sudan face acute food insecurity. Families are surviving on little to no food.

Global acute malnutrition exceeds 15% in multiple areas and surpasses 30% in parts of Darfur and Kordofan. Children suffering from severe wasting are unable to survive without urgent nutrition and medical support.

Daily Warm Meals

In displacement settings, many families lack kitchens, fuel, or safe cooking conditions.

Through SAPA-supported community kitchens, we provide consistent warm meals for displaced individuals—helping restore strength, dignity, and stability in extremely difficult conditions.

Healthcare Infrastructure Collapse

Sudan’s health system is near collapse, with around 70% of facilities in conflict-affected areas non-functional.

Outbreaks of cholera, malaria, and dengue are spreading, while maternal and neonatal care has been critically disrupted. Every 9 minutes, a newborn dies—often from preventable causes due to lack of care.

Hospitals are overwhelmed or inaccessible, leaving families with no options when a child or mother becomes critically ill.

Displacement

Violence in El-Fasher has forced families to flee to overcrowded camps like Al-Affad.

Many are living without food, medical care, or shelter. For children, pregnant women, and the elderly, the combination of hunger and illness is life-threatening.

When healthcare is unavailable, treatable illnesses become deadly.

SAPA supports urgent healthcare needs by providing medical supplies, supporting mobile clinics, and delivering maternal and newborn care—ensuring families have access to life-saving treatment during displacement.
