MIASA's MISSION

Mental illness does not discriminate – it happens to people from all walks of lives. From professionals to students, parents and children, mental illness is expected to be the second-highest form of health problem among Malaysians by 2020. But many patients choose to fight this battle alone because of the stigma towards them in the society. 

We believe that this stigma can be broken. LET’S DO THIS TOGETHER!

                  The Birth of MIASA

EVERYONE MATTERS; The birth and journey with MIASA has been extraordinary. It started in 2017. Through my own experience struggling with the illness and the disturbances that I went through, drove this idea and spirit of advocating this much needed cause, alhamdulillah. Mental illness has been taken lightly and never gotten the attention it requires. It’s harder then we, mental illness patients portray it, because there’s not enough words even in the dictionary to accurately describe the crippling affects nor the chronicity of it – especially when it’s not treated and supported (Puan Anita Abu Bakar, the founder of MIASA). 

MIASA is for every patient that wakes up every morning and continues to brave this illness, fighting on while having an unwaveringly good opinion of Allah; for every carer that continues to support us despite them not fully understanding; for all the mental health professionals that continue to help and strive to make that difference; and for every person out there that continues to help people like us. Thank you.
